Utah Post #1

Dan and I had talked about a Utah trip for quite some time. I hadn't been there in over two years and Dan had never been down to see all my extended family, so we took off for a long weekend. The drive (about 10 hours) was about all this 30-weeks-pregnant woman could take, but it was certainly worth every mile. I have fabulous grandparents and it was so much fun getting to spend time with all of them. My grandma Carol and my sister planned a big baby shower on Saturday, complete with diaper "cake" (expertly designed and constructed by my mum and grandma Janet), chocolate strawberry cake, baby sock "tulips" and a chocolate fountain and Greek buffet. If you left the party hungry, it was definitely your own fault.
One of the highlights was two surprise guests orchestrated by Jen. The first was my old friend and college roommate, Stephanie. She lives and works in Salt Lake and she drove up for the shower. We got a chance to talk and catch up and it was wonderful to re-connect (there's only so much you can get out of facebook). The second surprise was my best friend from elementary school, Aimee. She lives in the area and is also pregnant, but with #4. She looks fabulous. It was great to just pick up and talk as if it's something we do on a regular basis. I think the last time I saw her was ten or eleven years ago.
Thank you so much to all the friends and family who came and helped make it such a wonderful day!

What a wonderful baby shower! I love your sister's hair short too :) Her kids are getting so big and are so darn cute!!
I bet the car ride was tough, you are brave!! (But I know it was worth it).
Take it easy, and thanks for posting pics.
