Our gift to you....

....is happy, happy news! Dan and I are expecting our first wee one in June!
Yes, that is my belly, and yes, it is currently occupied. So far, baby is healthy and growing and the good doctor says everything appears normal. I'm working on successfully keeping food down, but the last couple of weeks have been much better. We had so much fun sharing our excitement with family over Christmastime. My parents are thrilled to have a grandchild (sort of) nearby and Sue is so excited to know that her 9th grandbaby is on the way.

'Twas two days before Christmas...

....and there is still a lot left to do.
We haven't even begun to pack for our trip.
I don't even have a list started.
How many packages of cough drops will suffice?
One pair of boots or two?
I'm sure we'll forget something, we always do.
We leave tomorrow morning for Oregon, then from there we'll venture North to Lynden-land.
We're not very smart, planning a giant road trip during the worst travel time in years.
Dan's a good driver and I'm an excellent sleeper.
We make a great team.

Be safe out there as you travel over the river and through the woods.
We'll be back with pictures to share.

Merry Christmas!

Sick of being Sick

Orange juice, cold medicine, hot tea and cough drops. It's more than just a pretty picture, it's a typical scene at our house for the past week or so. Both Dan and I have been down and out with quite a cold. So, here's what we both want for Christmas; Silent Nights (with no bouts of loud coughing fits) and healing for both of us so we don't spread this lovely cold to our families and friends.

Snow has arrived!!!!

We knew this day would arrive. After all, we got so much snow last year and it came very early that it was just a matter of time until a big storm brought inches upon inches of snow.

Roxy certainly likes playing in the snow.

This is all that's left of our garden. It makes me miss all the tomatoes and peppers that were there just a few months ago.

Since we couldn't really spend a lot of time in town out on the icy roads, we had Gender Stereotype Day (GSD). What is GSD you're asking? Well, it's when Dan works on something very manly, tough and masculine and I work on something daintier, domestic and more feminine. So Dan put together his new tool cabinet (an early Christmas present) and I worked on a sewing project that I started clear back in September. It has to be done by Christmas, so I've got a looming deadline.

It's beginning to look......

....a lot like CHRISTMAS!!!

This wreath is reason #847 why my husband is the best. In the past, he has made beautiful fresh Christmas wreaths, but for the past two years, he hasn't been able to. I was so glad he agrred to get this one from Costco last weekend. However, the wreath didn't have a bow, so we picked up some ribbon and Dan made an absolutely perfect bow. I am really enjoying the wreath. It smells like Christmas everytime I open the door.

We also spent some time decorating the apartment. I have a little village I set up and I put up and decorated my little trees.

Finally, Thanksgiving pictures

My good Mum sent me my wayward camera. I was have expecting that she would fill my memory card with pictures of her little dog, or maybe a semi-embarrasing picture of my dad asleep in his chair, but she was nice and left my camera alone.

Back in September when I was planning on seeing my sister and her family and my brother and his lovely fiance all over Thanksgiving, I thought it would be fun if all the ladies had coordinating aprons to wear as we prepared the big meal. Alas, plans were changed and what was to be a very large family Thanksgiving turned out to be limited to a simple one of just four of us. But I sent everyone their aprons anyway and Mum and I wore ours as we toiled away in the kitchen.

We also partook in a wonderful family tradition that I was happy to share with Dan. Sausage Making! The four of us worked together to mix in the super secret spices into ground pork and beef. We made about 50 pounds of delightful sausage.
